SCoT molecular markers are efficient in genetic fingerprinting of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) cultivars

The pomegranate is an economically important fruit plant species which has been utilized since ancient time as a source of food and medicine by mankind. This although cultivated in certain geographical regions, but its fruits are imported sold throughout the world. Iran center origin for contains huge number known cultivars. However, genetic studied on these cultivars very limited much detailed information to be produced better hybridization breeding tasks country. A fingerprinting study was performed 178 Punica trees 47 using SCoT molecular markers. We obtained 61 bands/ loci were used diversity analyses grouping low variability within among cultivars, revealed AMOVA, this quiet enough produce significant difference them. DAPC analysis trace admixture either due gene flow or result common ancestral shared alleles. Discriminating may germplasm evaluation Punica. can programs.
